To be, you must know you are. To get there, you must know that you have already arrived. ~Christina Bialas
Imagine you have been on a diet for two months and tonight you have decided to indulge in a juicy steak dinner. A moment ago you ordered a T-bone steak at a specialty steakhouse known for its mouth-watering prime cuts. The grilled smell of steak cooking whisks through the air making you hungrier than ever. At this time imagine the waiter arriving at your table, just as your steak is pulled from the grill. On his platter rests a hamburger not the steak. The waiter asks, “Would you like this Hamburger, instead?”
What would you tell the waiter? Would you accept the hamburger? Most people would undoubtedly look at the waiter as though he were batty and insist the steak be delivered at once. After all if you could have either, why not take exactly what you want? The same should be true for your aspirations in life. Unfortunately, many of us settle for the hamburger in life when we could have easily enjoyed the steak. Why do we settle? We settle because we do not realize (think) steak is on our menu.
Your first step towards living your dream life begins with your ideals. Exactly what is it that you want from life? The most frequent answer to this question is, “I don’t know.” We do not know exactly what we want which is exactly why life appears chaotic and delivered. It is the unintentional peaks and valleys of thought from not knowing what is wanted that spring the chaos.
Most people answer I don’t know because they hold the belief that they are limited in some way. When you disillusion yourself with limits, confusion enters in the form of polarized thought. You essentially force yourself to make choices between options that more often than not do not fully appeal to you. Pro’s and con’s, drawbacks and plusses overwhelm you as you attempt to settle. Most people fall back on the “I don’t know” sword because of the dilemma’s associated with settling. Settling for choices less then optimum causes lack of action and enthusiasm. Since you are not eager to arrive at a place less than ideal the familiarity of status quo grips you. The thoughts you are already so comfortable with perpetuate effortlessly.
